AJMER: The untimely demise of Ajmer MP Sanwar Lal Jat has revived the hopes of those who are eyeing his seat and have already started lobbying for a ticket keeping in mind the bypoll, which would be have to be held within six months.
Equation of caste in Ajmer is different from many places in Rajasthan and as the Ajmer MP Seat is vacant by the death of Sanwar Lal Jat, mostly Jat leaders in BJP started hoping for their name for the next by-elections.
There were also candidates from other castes who are hoping that with Modi wave still prevailing in India, there are chances that they will win the election.
Ajmer was mostly dominated by the Rawat votes and therefore Rasa Singh Rawat of BJP remained five times MP from Ajmer even when there was no hope for BJP in Rajasthan. But as soon as the de-notification of Ajmer constituency was made, Most of the Rawat belt went into Rajasmand constituency.
Sachin Pilot of Ajmer came as a candidate of
Congress for MP elections and he broke the myth of caste politics and won the elections with great triumph. That time it was concluded by the analyst that Pilot survived in the BJP fort just because of the Gujjar votes but later it came out that Pilot got the support from every section of the community in Ajmer.
In 2014, the caste equations again changed and BJP nominated Sanwar Lal Jat as their candidate and this polarize the Jat and Rawat votes in favour of BJP and resulted the loss for Pilot..
Sources said that after the death of Jat, there are various BJP and congress leaders hoping to get the chance for by-elections and they started making their own equations for their candidature. BJP is enthusiastic to win the elections again as there is still Modi waves in the country. Jat BJP leaders are hoping that BJP once again provide a chance to Jat candidate and one of the main Jat leader who came to BJP from Congress is hoping a chance this time.
Rajputs who had organized a grand rally in Ajmer are also hoing to get the ticket this time as after the Anandpal incident; Rajputs are hoping some favour from BJP party.
