Three siblings killed, father injured as trailer hits bike on NH-27
Kota: Three siblings were killed and their father injured after a speeding trailer rammed their motorcycle from behind on National Highway-27 under Dabi police station limits in Bundi district late Wednesday night. The accident triggered protests by villagers, who blocked traffic on the highway for over an hour.Police said Madan Banjara was riding to his village, Prarana, with his three children when a fast-moving trailer struck the motorcycle from behind. The impact was severe, dragging all four along the road. Three children died on the spot, while Madan sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Kota for treatment. The deceased were identified as Ankit Banjara (8), Karan Banjara (12) and Suman (6).
Circle Inspector Hemraj Sharma of Dabi police station said the trailer was allegedly being driven at high speed when the driver lost control, resulting in the collision. The driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle, which was later seized by police. Efforts are on to trace and arrest the absconding driver. Following the incident, family members and villagers gathered at the spot and staged a protest by placing the bodies on the slip lane of the highway. The agitation disrupted traffic on NH-27 for over an hour, causing long queues of vehicles on both sides. Protesters alleged that frequent accidents occur on this stretch due to over-speeding and demanded immediate arrest of the driver and adequate compensation for the victims' family. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Tailor said officials assured the protesters of strict action and assistance as per norms, after which the blockade was lifted. The post-mortem was conducted Thursday morning and the bodies were handed over to the family. The injured man remains under treatment and is out of danger.
