JAIPUR: Tension prevailed in the Bari area of Dholpur district after death of a cattle trader Roop Singh Kushwaha, whose genitals were chopped off by unidentified persons in the wee hours of Saturday. Police have registered case of murder against unidentified persons and efforts are on to nab them.
According to a report, Roop Singh Kushwaha (40), who lived with his family in the Bari area, was sleeping outside his house on Friday night.
On Saturday morning, his family was shocked to find Roop Singh in a pool of blood with his genitals were chopped off. He was taken to a primary health center (PHC) but the doctors pronounced him dead.
Soon the news of Roop's death spread in the area and hundreds of people blocked Dholpur-Karauli National Highway 11B for several hours and created a ruckus at Bari railway station. The agitated mob disrupted traffic by damaging Dholpur-Sarmathura narrow gauge railway track. When police tried to pacify them, they attacked the police and threw stones and the police made a lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.
SP of Dholpur Vijyendra Bidari told TOI that Roop's family and supporters were demanding action against the accused persons and the PHC doctor, who, they alleged, had not provided timely treatment causing his death. He said that the priority was to control the law and order situation. Therefore, the police was involved in pacifying the crowd. Police have some clues and guilty persons are likely to be arrested soon, he said.
Bari police claimed there may be a possibility of illicit relationship and involvement of women. Police are recording statement of Roop's family members and neighbours and the body of deceased persons was handed over to the family after post-mortem. Roop's last rites were performed later during the day and police force has been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
A similar brutal incident took place in 2005, when Babulal Jatav's nose was punctured with a needle and a thread was put through it by upper caste people in Rampur village under Bharatpur district.
