Jaipur: A rare case of achalasia cardia (rare swallowing disorder) was reported at Sawai Man Singh hospital, which was operated by the doctors by conducting robotic surgery on Monday.People with achalasia find it difficult to swallow food as muscles in the esophagus do not perform well to move swallowed food into the stomach.An SMS hospital official said that the 18-year-old patient was suffering from achalasia cardia for the past two years. Since he had difficulty in swallowing food, he was not able to eat food properly. He was regurgitating food from the mouth. He was quite weak when he was brought to the hospital. TNN

Rare heart surgery in Arunachal hosp

Doctors at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences in Arunachal Pradesh successfully closed a congenital hole in the heart of a 30-year-old patient. The surgery, performed under local anesthesia, was the first closure of an atrial septal defect (ASD) in the state. The ASD is an opening or hole in the heart wall that usually seals itself, but in some cases, it does not, causing an increase in workload on one side of the heart.
