Task force in Kerala set to return

JAIPUR: Even as the rescue operations have been completed in Kerala, four out of the five task forces which were inducted there of Konark Corps from

Jodhpur

are set to come back to their base stations while one will stay back for helping in rehabilitation in the flood devastated state. The five task forces in their week of work there managed to rescue over a thousand locals and transported as well as distributed approximately 47 tonnes of relief material. Flood relief and rescue operations were carried out by the task forces at Chengannur, Thrissur and Thiruval from August 17.

Colonel Sombit Ghosh, PRO, Defence, Rajasthan added, “The task forces rescued 1,070 locals and additionally rescued premature baby and also undertook controlled demolition of check dam on River Kannadipuza in Palakkad district. As of now we have got the intimation that four of the task forces will be returning soon. The task forces have transported and distributed over 47 tonnes of relief material to the people there.”

One of the teams also repaired the highway connecting relief camps to the affected area, catered medical aid and food to 1,800 plus persons during the relief operations. As the situation is getting back to normal the additional teams of armed forces personnel who had been conducted in the flood hit area are gradually being pulled out of Kerala although the rehabilitation operations will continue in the days to come, confirmed officials.
