Jaipur: Dog lovers in the city came together on Sunday for a first of its kind talk show named ‘If Dog Could Talk’ to discuss needs and problems of street and pet dogs.
The talk show was organised by Viren Sharma, noted dog activist in the city, to raise voice on different issues like adoption of Indie dogs, need for a dog park in the city, poor conditions of dog pounds in the city, veterinary facility or helpline for stray dogs, crematorium facility for dogs and the need for a better sterilisation programme for street dogs.

At the event, Anand Srivastava, commissioner of police Jaipur, who has two dogs including an Indie dog that he adopted, said, “Not a single case has been registered for dog bite in the city as there are no laws under which cases can be registered for a dog biting a human. There are laws for animal cruelty under which cases are registered and police immediately address those issues.”
Stressing on adoption of Indie dogs, Sharma, “Dogs need us and there are hundreds of puppies on the streets waiting to be adopted. A little step can help and protect them. Those dogs also need homes which many of us can provide. Many have started adopting Indie dogs but more such people are needed.”
