SC asks high courts to implement SNJPC recommendations
Jaipur: The Supreme Court has directed all the high courts to form a committee of two judges for effective implementation of various allowances and pension benefits including salary as per the recommendations of SNJPC to the serving and retired judicial officers of subordinate courts across the country. The SNJPC recommendations cover pay structure, pension and family pension and allowances, besides dealing with the issue of establishing a permanent mechanism to determine subjects of service conditions of the district judiciary.This committee will include the senior-most judge of the high court and one high court judge who has earlier served as judicial officer. Apart from this, the registrar general of the high court, principal law secretary and a retired judge should also be included in the committee as nodal officers. Supreme Court gave this order on the petition of All India Judges Association on January 4 and the order of the copy came on Tuesday. SC has directed the registrar generals of the high courts to present their report in the court on April 7 regarding the implementation of the recommendations. With this order, retired and pensioner judicial officers of subordinate courts across the country will get benefits.Dr Padam Kumar Jain, a retired judge and president of Welfare society of former judges, Rajasthan, said, “I welcome this judgement of Supreme court with a gratitude as this will certainly benefit the serving and retired judges.”
