SOG to conduct face-to-face interrogation in paper leak case

Jaipur: The Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) has intensified its investigation into the School Lecturer Recruitment Examination paper leak case by securing a five-day remand of alleged paper leak mafia kingpin Anil alias Sher Singh Meena. The accused was produced before a court Monday, which handed him over to SOG custody till May 15.

The agency is now preparing for a face-to-face interrogation involving Sher Singh Meena, former Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Babulal Katara and Katara’s nephew Vijay Damor. Officials believe the confrontation between the three accused could lead to major revelations regarding the operation of the paper leak network and its beneficiaries.

Babulal Katara and Vijay Damor were arrested by the SOG on May 8 and will remain in custody till May 13. “Now it is necessary to question the trio together to determine how the leaked question papers were circulated, how many candidates received them and the amount of money collected from aspirants in exchange for access to the papers,” said an officer of SOG.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that Katara allegedly sold the School Lecturer (Agriculture Science) Recruitment Examination-2022 paper to Sher Singh Meena for Rs 60 lakh. The SOG has also alleged that Katara demanded the General Knowledge-Geography paper for his nephew Vijay Damor.

Investigators claimed that after the Agriculture Science paper was prepared, Katara took it to his govt residence, where Vijay Damor allegedly copied the paper into a register. The handwritten questions were then reportedly handed over to Sher Singh Meena, who arranged multiple copies and distributed them through other members of the alleged racket, including Vinod Rewar, Bhupendra Saran and Suresh Dhaka.

“The gang circulated the paper among candidates before the examination and collected crores of rupees through the illegal operation,” said an officer. Officials said the agency is also preparing a list of candidates who may have benefited from the leaked papers. The investigation is going on, and the SOG has indicated that further arrests and significant disclosures are likely in the coming days.
