SOG busts racket involving social media cheating

Jaipur: The cybercrime police of SOG on Monday arrested seven persons for allegedly duping a person of nearly Rs 1 crore by promising part-time jobs to earn earn through sending likes on social media.
SOG on Monday said that complainant Deepak Sharma had lodged a case on May 2 stating that he got an invitation through social media to earn between Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 by joining a social media group. “He was asked to send likes and follow pages on Instagram accounts. Later, the man was duped of Rs 1,01,00,000,” said an officer.
Deepak, who was lured by part-time job was first asked to first follow a page on Telegram and later asked to like and follow various posts. The victim was asked to transfer nearly Rs 1 crore as in the name of profitable investment online. Based on the complaint a case under appropriate sections of IPC was lodged at the cybercrime police station of SOG. The arrested accused aged 27 years to 32 years were identified as Anand Nehra, Abhishek Bajiya, Ravi Sahu, Sachin Nama, Sachin Khyaliya, Devi Lal Suthar and Hari Shankar Jat. One of the accused is pursuing MBBS and others are doing graduation.
