Social security pension hiked to Rs 1,300/mth: Min
Jaipur: Social justice and empowerment minister Avinash Gehlot Wednesday said that the state govt has increased the monthly social security pension to Rs 1,300 within two years of assuming office.Responding during Zero Hour to an issue raised by MLA Harimohan Sharma, Gehlot said the present govt steadily enhanced the pension amount in phases. "The pension was Rs 1,000 earlier. In 2024, it increased to Rs 1,150, in 2025 to Rs 1,250, and in 2026 it rose to Rs 1,300 per month," he said.
The minister asserted that pension payments are made regularly and without backlog. "There are no pending dues under the social security pension scheme. Payments are made in a timely manner as soon as the month concludes." Gehlot said over 91 lakh pensioners across Rajasthan are currently receiving benefits under various social security schemes. Sharma alleged that the government had withheld social security pensions for four months and released the arrears only after the Assembly session began. "The government did not disburse social security pensions for four months. Only when the Assembly session started were the pending amounts released," he said.Sharma said, "It is interesting that the dept is headed by a Gehlot. One Gehlot believed in working for the welfare of the poor, while another Gehlot does not release pensions even for four months. Pension had not been increased regularly as required. The social security pension has not been enhanced as it should have been."
