According to Vidhyadhar Nagar police, two men, identified as Anil alias Lilu and Ramesh, both residents of Haryana had allegedly fired at the window of Banwari Lal's house in Vidhyadhar Nagar on September 27. "The bullet pierced the window, but Banwari Lal had a narrow escape. The bullet got lodged in the wall of a room in the house," said Gyanendra Singh, incharge of Vidhyadhar Nagar police station.
Pilani police in Jhunjhunu district recently arrested one of the shooters, Anil alias Lilu who have allegedly confessed that he along with Ramesh fired at Banwari Lal's house. "Anil has said that he took supari of Rs 7 lakh from one Mewa Singh, a dubai based businessman as Banwari Lal and Mewa Singh had some money dispute," said Gyanendra Singh.
Sources said that the dispute is over a piece of land in Chomu town on Sikar Road. They added that Mewa Singh is involved in hawala business and has close links with Dawood.
It is believed that the supari against the Jaipur-based marble trader was issued on the instruction of Dawood Ibrahim as he wanted to teach a lesson to the trader for not paying the money.
