“ On June, 3 after arresting one Pankaj Vaishav for an NDPS case the officer called up his wife and through the mediator asked for a bribe of Rs 2 lakh which included a cash of Rs 1 lakh and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh. Meanwhile, he was in constant touch and chatting with the accused wife asking her to befriend him if she wishes for an early charge-sheet to get the benefit of bail for her husband,” said Jagdish Soni, Deputy superintendent of police, ACB, Jodhpur told TOI.
“Thereafter he even came in front of the house of the accused when his wife was alone and asked her to at least dine with her. The woman approached us on June, 9 with the complaint. While for verification when we asked the woman to contact him again he asked the woman that he was looking for a safer place for them to get cozy and will return on June, 12,” Soni added.
Since he was unaware of the trap the woman agreeed to his demand and invited him on June 13 when he reached at her house at 8 pm.
“As per the code language after his arrival woman called us and said please bring 2 cold coffee (the code that meant please come for help). Our team raided the house and arrested him with the cheque of Rs 1 lakh,” he added.
