JAIPUR: A day after all the gates of Gandhi Sagar dam were opened in Kota, water inundated several areas near Chambal River on Sunday. The released water from the dam reached Dholpur as the Chambal River was overflowing.
Meanwhile, several areas in the state continued to receive light to moderate rain. The Met department officials said that light to moderate rain occurred at many places in Ajmer and Udaipur division.
Isolated places in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota and Jodhpur divisions also received light to moderate rain. However, Bikaner division remained mainly dry.
Jaipur received 9.2mm of rain till Sunday evening and the weather remained pleasant almost throughout the day. The Met department has predicted that in the next 24 hours, the sky would remain cloudy in the city and there is a possibility of rain and thundershowers .
Udaipur received 22.4mm of rain, while Hindoli, Banswara and Bhungra received 5mm of rain. Nasirabad, Badesar, Chhoti Sadri, Tatgarh, Kesarpura and Mandana received 4mm of rain.
According to the Met department rain and thundershowers would occur at a few places in south-east Rajasthan and at isolated places in other parts of the state.
