Senior IAS officers to man 181 helpline as Raj govt moves to fast-track public grievances
Jaipur: In a major step aimed at addressing mounting public grievances, the govt of Rajasthan deputed 35 senior IAS officers to the Rajasthan Sampark Helpline to ensure faster resolution of complaints. The decision, taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, came amid growing concerns over delays in resolving issues faced by ordinary citizens. According to an order issued by Chief Secretary V Srinivas Friday, officers ranging from Secretary to Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) rank will be stationed at the 181 call centre located in the state Secretariat on designated days.
Each officer will receive at least 10 calls daily, directly interacting with citizens to understand their grievances and resolve them on the spot wherever possible. The special drive will run from March 4 to April 28.For the past several weeks, the Chief Minister himself made regular visits to the 181 call centre, personally taking calls and reviewing complaints. He also held public hearings at the Chief Minister's Residence to ensure that pending issues are addressed promptly.Senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretaries Abhay Kumar, Aparna Arora, Shikhar Agarwal, Sandeep Verma, Kuldeep Ranka, Sreya Guha, and others, are part of the initiative.Under the directive, each visiting officer must identify at least 10 long-pending yet easily resolvable complaints from the Sampark portal and ensure their disposal. Many minor grievances related to certificates, electricity, water supply, and sanitation often remain pending for extended periods, causing distress to citizens.Officers will be required to submit a detailed report after each visit, outlining the number of complaints resolved and suggesting measures to improve the grievance redressal system.
