Jaipur: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) national president MK Faizy has announced to run a campaign against the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill across the nation with communities and tribes whose beliefs and customs will be compromised.
At a press conference held on the sidelines of the two-day national working committee meeting here on Monday, Faizy said they will have a discussion with their alliance partner, Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP), to launch a joint campaign.
“The UCC is discriminatory and violates the provision in the Constitution of freedom of religion. The bill is targeted against a particular community, but they forget that many other communities follow their own customs and traditions and forcing everyone to follow one set of rules is meant to create discord in the country,” said Faizy.
