JAIPUR: In a bid to give relief to distressed patients Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College and Hospital, its administration has appealed to its striking resident doctors to resume work as 'they have shown enough solidarity with the private hospital doctors'.
The administration said the strike, which has entered its fourth day, is directly affecting the healthcare facilities at SMS Hospital, a government facility, which is a hope for thousands of patients including underprivileged people from the city and rural areas across the state for treatment.
Patients are suffering in the hospital as many of them can be seen returning without undergoing surgeries due to the strike.
Mohammad Sajid, who had come from Jhunjhunu to get his hand operated on, said, "The doctor refused to admit me and they have asked me to come back when the situation gets normal."
Similarly, a lot of patients who need elective surgeries have been asked to come after the doctors call off their strike. However, on the appeal, only senior resident doctors and senior faculty members of SMS Medical College resumed duties on Thursday. "We are taking care of the patients in OPD, IPD and emergency," said Dr Rajeev Bagarhatta, principal and controller of SMS Medical College.
