JAIPUR: Chief minister
Ashok Gehlot on Monday targeted the
BJP and the central government accusing both of maligning the image of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. While raising questions on Savarkar’s contribution to Independence struggle, he said, “Savarkar apologised to the British nine times in a year. When the World War broke out, he recruited youth for the British.”
He asked how Savarkar could be compared with Pandit Nehru who remained in jail for nine years.
He was speaking at a programme on the birth anniversary of Nehru in Jaipur’s Ram Niwas Bagh. “BJP-RSS people are misleading in the name of religion which is the easiest thing to do. These fascist forces are misleading the people under a well-thought-out conspiracy. Pandit Nehru had very good relations with Sardar Patel and Subhas Chandra Bose,” Gehlot added.
