JAIPUR: Fiery speeches in campus, convening sessions in classrooms, rallies in corridors and sharing manifesto which mark the students union polls have been missing from the universities/colleges. The
tight election schedule
culminating with three
consecutive day
holiday from Friday till Monday except for Saturday has shifted the campaign outside the campuses.
The candidates contesting polls feel that they have given no time to campaign in the campus devoid them of making speeches and convincing voters about their vision, besides sharing the manifesto poll promises. What has aggravated the situation is long holiday has emptied the hostels. Many hostels have reduced the strength to half leaving the candidates to change their poll strategy.
The candidates are feeling disappointed that they have a lot to say but they don't have an audience to speak. "The campuses provide the right audience in the most convenient manner. This year the schedule is such short that none of the presidential post candidates have held any public speech on the campus," said
Deepak Meena, presidential candidate of NSUI in
Rajasthan University. The condition of NSUI is so poor that they have opened their poll office on Thursday.
ABVP's presidential candidate of RU, Sanjay Machedi also feels that candidates have to work harder than the previous years. "The option is we have to reach out students through social media and wherever possible," said Machedi. Even candidates have no time to make a video and circulate on social media. The candidate fears that in the absence of time they voters will not going to recognize them.
Every year the candidates get enough time to reach out to most of the students' one of one basis but this year students will be clue less about the candidates. The
Lyngdoh Committee
recommendations say that during polls a debate among the presidential candidates has to take place.
