RU paper leak: Two more arrested by SOG
JAIPUR: The
A special team of SOG had detained associate professor Rajiv Sharma and examination controller’s personal secretary Surender Sharma and later arrested them under the provisions of Rajasthan public examination (prevention of unfair means) Act 1992.
The primary investigation suggests that Rajiv Sharma had asked Surender to get details about the professors who has have entrusted with the responsibility of setting the RU’s B.com question papers.
“At Rajiv’s behest, Surender contacted Nand Lal Saini, the person responsible for maintaining the secrecy of question papers as he was posted at RU ‘s ‘secrecy wing’ . Saini shared the name of the teachers who had set up B.Com question papers,” a senior SOG official said, adding that so far 17 people from Bikaner, Jaipur, Bandikui and Hanumangarh have been booked in six separate cases of leaking question papers.

Rajiv Sharma’s arrest is significant as he was also the chief warden of the RU hostels and personally knew several of the hostel students. While the SOG is claiming that Rajiv Sharma sought details of the question papers as one of his student too was appearing in the examinations, the futher probe can reveal the names of his other beneficiaries
“We are probing what were Rajiv Sharma’s intentions for contacting the paper setter, also it has to be established if money was exchanged at any point in this scam,” the SOG officials told TOI, adding that more arrests are likely in the case. After the SOG busted the scam on Monday, the sleuths have been interrogation several persons who were involved in conducting examinations, on Tuesday itself, the cops had summoned Surender for questioning.
