Rs 275cr Maharana circuit DPR awaits approval of fin dept

Jaipur: The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Maharana Pratap Tourism Circuit, estimated at Rs 275 crore, was finalised and sent to the finance dept for approval, sources in the tourism dept said Tuesday.Once cleared, work on the project will begin, marking one of the state's flagship cultural tourism initiatives announced in the 2025–26 Budget.
The proposed circuit will link historic sites associated with the legendary Rajput warrior, including Chawand, Deewer, Haldighati, Gogunda, Fateh Mahal at Chittorgarh Fort and Udaipur's Pratap Gaurav Kendra.Together, these destinations will form the circuit designed to promote heritage tourism while commemorating Maharana Pratap's valour and contribution to Rajasthan's history.Officials said the project aims to develop infrastructure, improve connectivity, and enhance visitor facilities at these sites, ensuring tourists can experience the cultural and historical significance of Maharana Pratap's life and battles. The circuit is expected to attract both domestic and international visitors, boosting tourism revenues and creating local employment opportunities.The state govt emphasised that the initiative is not only about tourism but also about preserving and showcasing Rajasthan's cultural heritage. By integrating monuments, battlefields, and memorials into a single circuit, the project seeks to provide a comprehensive narrative of Maharana Pratap's resistance against Mughal expansion and his enduring legacy as a symbol of courage and independence.The DPR outlines plans for interpretation centres, improved road networks, signage, landscaping, and modern amenities at each site.Officials in the department said special attention will be given to Haldighati, the site of the famous battle, and Chawand, Maharana Pratap's capital in his later years. The Pratap Gaurav Kendra in Udaipur will serve as a focal point for cultural exhibitions and educational programmes.The Rs 275-crore project is expected to be rolled out in phases, with initial work focusing on infrastructure upgrades and visitor facilities. The govt hopes the circuit will become a signature attraction.
