Rs 1 crore property built from drug money seized in Nagaur crackdown
Jaipur: Police in Nagaur district have frozen a residential property worth over Rs 1 crore allegedly built using proceeds from drug trafficking, officials saidSaturday.
SP Roshan Meena said that the accused was identified as Govind Ram alias Govind Jat, a resident of Barani, who is alleged to be an inter-state drug trafficker. Police said he constructed the house using illicit earnings from the narcotics trade and registered the property in the name of his wife, Mooli Devi.
According to Meena, the action was taken under Section 68F of the NDPS Act as part of "Operation Sankalp", an ongoing operation against illegal narcotics in the district.
Investigations revealed that the accused purchased two plots — numbers 39 and 40 — in Star City, located on the Didwana-Bikaner bypass, and built a lavish house on the land using proceeds from drug trafficking.
Police said four serious cases under the NDPS Act are already registered against the accused at different police stations in Rajasthan. Technical evidence gathered during the probe established that the property was entirely funded through illegal income.
The proposal to freeze the property was sent by Kotwali police station to the competent authority in Delhi, which, after examination, confirmed the freezing order on Friday.
Officials said the crackdown forms part of a broader campaign targeting drug networks and their financial assets. In the past month alone, Nagaur police have frozen two houses and two luxury vehicles linked to the narcotics trade.
Senior officers, including Additional Superintendent of Police Asharam Choudhary and Assistant Superintendent of Police Jatin Jain, supervised the operation, which was led by Kotwali SHO Vedpal Shivran along with a team of police personnel.
