Roat slams Rajasthan govt for not using funds for tribal development

Jaipur: Banswara MP Rajkumar Roat has accused state govt of failing to utilise last year's budgetary allocation of Rs 1,500 crore for tribal-dominated areas. In a letter he shot off to CM Bhajan Lal Sharma on Saturday, Roat accused tribal development minister Babulal Kharadi of inaction, claiming the delay in the utilisation of the funds severely impacted key sectors such as healthcare, education and skill development.
The Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) MP said the funds could have been used to strengthen Maa Bari centres that provide education and nutrition to tribal children. "The condition of these centres is so poor that they even lack books and teachers, and lakhs of tribal students are left in jeopardy. Even the salaries of the teachers are delayed for months, forcing them to take up other activities to support their families," he wrote in the letter.
Roat further alleged that govt ignored provisions for free coaching to tribal students in all districts covered under Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP). "Not a single penny has been spent by state govt (for free coaching), showing their complete disregard for tribal welfare. This appears to be an act of political vengeance as tribals did not vote for BJP," he wrote.
The MP also mentioned govt's unfulfilled promise of setting up community centres at the district headquarters to provide temporary accommodation for students appearing for exams and participating in other activities. Roat also accused govt of failing to establish general healthcare centres (GHCs) and primary healthcare centres (PHCs) in tribal areas, calling it a blatant disregard for tribal health. "This is nothing short of playing with people's lives," he wrote.
Roat urged the four MLAs of his party to raise the issue in the Assembly's upcoming Budget session and demand immediate implementation of the promised steps. The state Budget will be presented on Feb 19.Check out the Valentine Day 2025 , along with the Valentine’s Day Wishes and Messages.
