Residents fume as taps run dry at few colonies
Jaipur: Residents of around 70 to 100 houses of Chowdhury Nagar Colony and Jain Vihar, located behind the Kamala Nehru Nagar next Ajmer Road, are facing a harrowing time for the last few days as they are not getting water from the pipeline connections of the Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED).
Under the present schemes of thing, the residents are forced to buy water from private tankers and residents claimed, that these tanker owners have started exorbitant price as the demands for tanker water have increased in the area.
“Most of the households in our colony has not received water for the last five to six days. Even a few residents of the adjacent colonies are also affected. Although we have not lodged a written complaint, several residents of the colony have informed PHED officials over phone. Till Saturday afternoon the situation has not been restored,” said Ravi Kant Sharma, a local resident.
Residents have alleged that most households have purchased water in the affected days and the private tanker owners are discriminately increasing the rates. “I have purchased a tanker of water on Tuesday for Rs 800. The same tanker sold water to my neighbour on Friday morning for Rs 1,200,” alleged HS Saini, another local resident.
PHED officials have stated that there were a few problems with the Bisalpur supply in the locality. However, officials tried to provide water as much possible so that the taps at the households don’t go completely dry. “Situation has improved since Saturday afternoon and would restore completely soon,” an official added.
