JAIPUR: The proposed ropeway from Kanak Vrindavan to Nahargarh will give a massive facelift to the majestic Jal Mahal which is a must in every visitor’s itinerary. The architectural marvel will be an added attraction for global audience during the forthcoming Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held in October in New Delhi. Tourists will have the opportunity to take an aerial view of the beautiful city at a height of 200 metres.

However, here comes the dampener. The forest department has not given its final clearance for the ropeway project connecting the historic Jaigarh and Nahargarh Fort. According to Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) officials, the project report is pending with the forest department for clearance for the past one year.
In short, the project has not been taken off even after five years since it was conceived by the JDA.
Manoj Soni, zonal engineer, JDA and project incharge, said, “The JDA had sent the files related to the project with all clearances to the forest department. The ropeway would be an added attraction for the tourists in the city. If the project is completed before the Commonwealth Games, it would be great for everyone.”
Recently, the state wildlife board has also given its approval for the project. However, as per the claims, the area belongs to the forest department and part of the Nahargarh Wildlife Sanctuary.
The ropeway project was conceptualised by the JDA in order to boost tourist inflow in sites, including Jal Mahal and two beautiful forts, Jaigarh and Nahargarh. The ropeway will be equipped with electronic gadgets. It will start from 300-year-old Kanak Vrindavan temple.
“The ropeway would facilitate a hassle free and entertaining journey.
Besides, the tourist would have the opportunity to take the aerial view of the this beautiful city at the height of 200 meter,” said Soni.
The length of the proposed ropeway is 1.5 km and elevation difference between both the terminals is 200 metres. The projected cost of has been pegged at around Rs 12 crore. It will be operated on the built operate and transfer basis and the lease will be effective for 30 years.
