Kota: The foundation stone rituals for the reconstruction of the historic cenotaph (Chhatri) of Rao Surajmal Hada, the 9th king of Bundi, were performed in a modest ceremony on Friday. The consensus for the reconstruction of the monument was reached in a meeting chaired by Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota-Bundi MP Om Birla on Thursday, which was attended by officials from KDA, Airport Authority of India, former MP and member of Kota ex-royal family Ijyaraj Singh, Brig (rtd) Bhupesh Singh Hada, Vanshvardhan Singh and Akshya Hada and representatives from the Rajput community.
Ex-MP Ijayraj, Brig Hada, Vanshwardhan, along with several community members and locals, performed the rituals of the stone-laying ceremony Friday noon.
After reaching a consensus on the reconstruction, speaker Om Birla spoke with CM Bhajan Lal Sharma over the phone regarding the sentiments of the community, a press release stated. tnn
