​Rape-suicide: Accused held, to be produced in court today

BIKANER: After a 16-year-old girl in Nathusar village in Bikaner district committed suicide after being raped, police arrested the accused, Ram Kishan Jat on Saturday night.
“He will be presented before the court on Monday,” said additional SP (rural) Jai Narayan Meena.
ASP Meena said that the girl’s body was handed over to her family after post mortem by a medical board.
He said that the prime cause of death was due to hanging. However, to confirm rape the police are awaiting detailed report
on Monday.
Meanwhile, circle officer (CO, city) Anukriti Ujjeniya on Sunday visited Nathusar where the teenaged girl was allegedly raped by Ram Kishan Jat when he found her alone in her fields on Friday. Ujjeniya visited the crime spot and also recorded the statement of the deceased’s family members.
Ujjeniya told TOI that the accused Ram Kishan Jat was rounded up on Sunday, which contradicts ASP (rural) Meena’s version.
The girl’s funeral was organized on Sunday. The neighbours and other villagers were shocked by the incident and condemned the heinous act.
