‘Rang De Gulabi’ campaign brings colour to Jaipur streets
Jaipur: The city’s walls came alive with colour and community spirit Saturday as the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) launched its one-day ‘Rang De Gulabi’ campaign, turning public spaces into canvases to promote cleanliness and social awareness.
More than 500 walls across Jaipur were painted in a single day, with over 600 artworks created simultaneously across all 13 JMC zones. The murals highlighted themes such as cleanliness, environmental protection, women empowerment and national unity, transforming dull stretches into visually engaging messages.
The campaign began in Malviya Nagar, where district collector Sandesh Nayak and JMC commissioner Om Kasera joined children in painting walls, encouraging wider participation. At Govt Hostel Circle, members of the transgender community were also seen actively taking part, adding a strong element of inclusivity to the initiative.
A participant from the transgender community said, “For the first time, we feel included in such a city initiative. Earlier, we were often seen differently, but this effort has given us a sense of respect and responsibility. Contributing to the city’s beautification makes us feel proud.” Another participant added that the recognition for their work would help them feel more connected to society.
Kasera said the initiative was launched in line with the chief minister’s vision, with a strong focus on public participation. “Despite the weather, people turned out in large numbers from across the city to take part in painting activities, which reflects the campaign's success,” he said. Efforts would be made to cover even more walls and spread the message of cleanliness more widely.
Nayak said the campaign was aimed at spreading awareness about cleanliness among citizens, while also sending a positive message to visitors.
