JAIPUR: Three Covid-19 deaths were reported in Rajasthan for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday, taking the death toll to 22 in April. In the past four days, 12 deaths have been reported in the state due to Covid-19.

The three deaths reported in the past 24 hours were from Nagaur, Pali and Bikaner districts. The overall Covid-19 deaths reported in the state since 2020 have risen to 6,983.

The daily Covid-19 positive cases have also been increasing for the past few days. On Saturday, the state had reported 419 cases, and on Sunday another 422 persons were found to be infected with the virus.

In the past 24 hours, Jaipur reported 104 cases, the highest among districts in the state, followed by Jodhpur (65), Bharatpur (52), Nagaur (43), Udaipur (32), Bikaner (29), Sikar (25), while 72 cases were reported from across 19 districts. Seven districts, including Rajsamand, Pali, Karauli, Jhunjhunu, Jalore, Dungarpur, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh and Barmer did not report any Covid-19 case in the past 24 hours.

Official figures said 137 persons recovered from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. A health department official advised people to take precautions, "especially elderlies who have comorbid conditions."

"Also those who are immunocompromised should take care of their health and necessary precautions to avoid any risk of getting infected," the official said.

The active cases in the state have been steadily increasing since the beginning of April. The active cases which were 2,058 on Saturday increased to 2,340 on Sunday.
