We have appealed to the business class and the public to support the farmers in their cause on December 8,” said Amra Ram, national vice-president of Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sabha.
The Akhil Bharatiya Kisaan Sangharsh Coordination Committee organized on Saturday and decided to block the Jaipur-Delhi highway on December 8. “We will head towards Delhi and block the highway on our way,” said Sanjay Madhav of the committee.
Some organizations in the state adopted a ‘wait and watch’ strategy as they protested in various parts of the state in protest against the centre’s three farm bills. As they protested demanding repeal of the three bills, they kept a close watch on Saturday’s meeting between the central government and the farmers in New Delhi. A group of Jaipur farmers, under the banner Kisaan Sangathan, organized tractor rally from Bassi toll plaza to Jobner on Saturday.
“If the outcome of the meeting is not positive, we will begin our preparations for travelling to Delhi from tomorrow (Sunday). We went to Tikri border yesterday (Friday) and reached Singhu border today (Saturday) in support of the farmer brothers. I returned to Shahjahanpur in Alwar today for a meeting with the farmers,’ said Rampal Jat of Kisaan Mahapanchayat.
Meanwhile, Himmat Singh-led Pradesh Kisaan Sangharsh Samiti also burnt effigies of the prime minister and corporates - Adani and Ambani - in support of the farmers. “We will head towards Delhi after the Bharat Bandh,” said Singh.
The three farm laws that are being opposed by the farmers of Punjab and Haryana are — the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation); The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance; and Farm Services and The Essential Commodities (Amendment).
