Indore: 360-degree outreach campaign to increase voters turn-out
Authorities in Agar-Malwa and Shajapur districts are implementing a comprehensive voter outreach program to target areas with low voter turnout in the 2018 assembly election. The campaign includes traditional methods such as wall paintings, street plays, and banners, as well as the involvement of social media influencers. Various mediums like jingles, videos, and social media posts are being utilized to increase voter awareness. The program is also focusing on the Kalbeliya and Banjara communities, who historically have lower voter participation. In 2018, Agar Malwa had an average voter turnout of around 83%.
4 cops suspended in AP for trying to collect voter list
Four police personnel in Bapatla district have been suspended for allegedly trying to collect voter list information. The officers reportedly attempted to obtain Form-7 data from election officials in various villages. The superintendent of police in Bapatla stated that an inquiry has been initiated and if it is found that the officers collected data, strict action will be taken against them. This incident comes after a senior official was suspended in August for not properly preparing clean electoral lists.
Hyderabad's invisible voters lost among ghost addresses
A boys hostel in Jubilee Hills constituency in Hyderabad has 103 voters on the electoral rolls, 20 of whom are women. However, the hostel staff confirmed that none of the residents are women. Local political leaders allege that there are at least 400 such fictitious votes in the constituency. There are also voters with vague addresses, such as "hut" and "thanda", in various constituencies in Telangana. A temple in Serilingampally constituency has 53 voters registered against it, despite no one living there. There is a need for a door-to-door survey before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls to address these discrepancies.
