Raj govt residential schools post 97.98% Class 10 pass rate, near-perfect Class 12 results: Report
Jaipur: Residential schools run by Rajasthan’s social justice and empowerment department recorded a 97.9% pass rate in the Class 10 board exams and near-perfect Class 12 results — 98.3% in Science, 99.8% in Arts and 100% in Commerce — according to a departmental report.
The state has 42 operational residential schools with over 14,500 enrolled students. The department credited the performance to “continuous, systematic and result-oriented monitoring” by hostel wardens, regular counselling, subject-expert guidance, and online and extra classes.
In Class 10, 1,829 students appeared and 1,792 passed. The report said 12 students scored above 95%, 33 above 90%, 51 above 85% and 146 above 80%.
In Class 12 Science, the pass rate was 98.3%. Of 678 students, 574 passed in first division and 93 in second division. Three students scored above 95%, 12 above 90%, 47 above 85% and 110 above 80%.
In Arts, the pass rate was 99.8%. Of 710 students, 653 passed in first division, 54 in second division and two in third division. Two students scored above 95%, 15 above 90%, 85 above 85% and 30 above 80%.
Commerce recorded a 100% pass rate, with all 18 students clearing the exam. Six passed in first division and 12 in second division.
The report said the schools provide free education, accommodation, nutritious food, uniforms, textbooks, stationery and medical facilities to children from SC, ST, Special Backward Classes, EWS categories and other underprivileged groups.
Social Justice and Empowerment minister Avinash Gehlot said, “The residential school scheme, which began in 1997-98, is not limited to merely providing education, but has become a powerful initiative towards social equality, equal opportunities and a bright future.”
The report said state spending on the scheme has risen in recent years, with Rs 67 crore spent until Dec 2025 for 12,570 students.
All 42 schools are run through the Rajasthan Residential Educational Institutions Society (RRIES).
