Raj ANTF arrests drug smuggler absconding for 7 yrs from Gujarat

Jaisalmer: The state Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Saturday arrested a wanted drug smuggler with a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head who had been absconding for the last seven years. An ANTF team from Rajasthan made the arrest in Gujarat on the road from Vapi to Jalgaon, Maharashtra. ANTF IG Vikas Kumar said Rugaram, a resident of Gida in Balotra district, supplied illegal drugs across the country on a truck. The ANTF team tracking his movements for several kilometres eventually nabbed him while he was sleeping inside the vehicle Saturday. Rugaram had fled to Gujarat fearing action against him by the Rajasthan police. He was earlier jailed in a rape case and used contacts made while incarcerated to launch his drug trafficking operations upon his release, officials said. TNN
