Jaipur: A police constable posted at Bhim police station in
Rajsamand was seriously injured when he was allegedly attacked with a sword by a mob at Bhim town on Wednesday. The incident took place when police were trying to stop a mob from vandalising a religious place. The constable is battling for life in hospital while police have so far arrested at least 50 people for disturbing peace.
According to police, some organisations were protesting against the murder of tailor Kanhiya Lal at Bhim and urging the public to shut down their business establishments, shops and markets.
They organised a rally and were peacefully walking inside the city. Suddenly, when they were attempting to enter a religious place with a motive to damage it, police intervened. Police lobbed teargas shells and used force to disperse them.
