area in Ajmer, was arrested along with his three accomplices for his alleged involvement in chain snatching. The man took chain snatching as his source to clear the debts he had incurred in the business of property dealing.

police have claimed it to be a big catch after increased number of chain snatching incidents in the city.

According to police, following the increased number of chain snatching incidents in Ajmer, the superintendent of police (Ajmer), Nitin Deep Blaggan constituted a team of officers who were asked to deploy more policemen in the public places. After a continued information, the team managed to arrest one person of the gang which fetched them the busting of the gang.

was into purchasing and selling of disputed and other property and was earning well. Later, post 2013, when slump started in the real estate business, he started snatching of gold chains from women from the public places. The gang members used to operate on a motorbike and later they used to flee in a car," said

Police have so far recovered two gold chains from the possession of the gang and have claimed to have recover more during the interrogation of the four arrested accused till October 13. "He is also associated with the local youth wing of Shiv Sena. Other arrested included Pawan, Hemant Sodha and

," he said.

After the police arrested the accused and his antecedents were checked, it was found that 10 cases were pending against the accused. "He was into extortion, assault and other crimes before taking chain snatching as lucrative career," he added.

Police have also recovered the motorbike and SUV which were used in executing the crime.

"We have also recovered a country made pistol which tells that during the incident of crime they used to intimidate the victim women with the weapon so that she could be kept in shock until they flee from the scene," the officer added.

All the accused were produced in the court on Monday and were sent to the police custody till October, 13. "We will interrogate them to find out other incidents of similar crime," he added.

Further investigation into the case is going on.
