Police search for unsung heroes who saved lives

Jaipur: Jaipur police on Sunday launched an effort to locate the good samaritans who risked their lives to save others from the massive fire explosion on Ajmer-Jaipur highway on Friday.DCP (west) Amit Kumar said he ordered formation of a special team led by ACP Bagru to investigate technical evidence, including mobile tower data, to track movements of those who were active in the vicinity during the disaster. This may lead to identification of those who rushed to the scene and assisted in rescue efforts. These people not only rushed burn victims to hospitals but also helped fire tenders locate water sources to refill their tanks as they battled the massive blaze.The LPG tanker explosion as a result of gas leak had engulfed nearly a one-kilometre area, leaving many injured and others trapped. The prompt and selfless response of local residents and passersby played a crucial role in mitigating the loss of life and providing immediate care to the victims."We have already identified 15 individuals who helped take the victims to hospital. Some of them worked tirelessly in difficult conditions, and their efforts deserve recognition," Kumar stated.The police team has also visited local hospitals to review CCTV footage in an attempt to identify those who brought injured people to medical care.
