Police raid 864 places of gangs in city, 120 held

Jaipur: The city police launched a targeted crackdown on 864 locations of newly forged gangs involved in purse snatching, drug peddling and vehicle theft on Sunday and arrested 120 of them.
Additional commissioner of Jaipur Police (crime) Kailash Chandra Bishnoi stated that the clandestine operation aimed at controlling criminal groups notorious for their involvement in a wide range of crimes.
“We first identified 864 locations of suspects previously booked in cases of Arms Act, mobile snatching, purse snatching, chain snatching, drug smuggling, and vehicle thefts. We then constituted multiple teams and raided all 864 locations simultaneously,” he said.
Bishnoi added that 158 suspects were brought in for questioning at different police stations. “Out of the 158, we arrested 120 suspects in different cases,” he said.
The police emphasised that preventing the reorganisation of these gangs was a crucial objective of the operation. “It is important to keep these small gangs under constant surveillance before they expand into larger entities,” said an official. The Jaipur police also conducted searches premises of the gangs to check for illegal firearms, stolen vehicles, and drugs. tnn
