A day ahead of IDY, people looked excited at SMS stadium, who were practicing yoga asanas on Wednesday. However, the organisers including state government and social organisations are expecting lesser crowd this year in comparison to past year. “Last year, it was 45,000 people who joined in the International Yoga Day Camp as it was the state level programme. This year, since its district level programme in Jaipur, we expect around 20,000 people,” said Priti, member of camp organizer.
Not only at SMS Stadium, but government offices, hospitals, educational institutions will celebrate IDY. Department of tourism (DOT) in association with India Tourist Centre, Jaipur will celebrate the event at the historic Amber Fort from 7am to 8 am. It will be organized at the elephant stand in Amber. Joint director, trade, Ghanshyam Gangwal said that trainers at the event will be Purnima Soni and Lalita Bharadwaj.
However, yoga enthusiasts pointed out that yoga is key to fitness. “I am teaching yoga from 1993 and have helped people cure their illness problems like heart problems, thyroid, backbone problems, and many more”, said Dr Sanjay Gupta, a yoga teacher.
