Pakistani man crosses border into Rajasthan after family refuses marriage, detained
JAISALMER: A Pakistani intruder who illegally entered Indian territory from across the Indo-Pak international border near Barmer was apprehended by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on Thursday.
During preliminary questioning, the intruder reportedly told security agencies that he crossed into India after becoming upset with his family for refusing to arrange his marriage despite his wish to get married.
The BSF later handed him over to Dhanau Police Station in Barmer district, where further interrogation is underway.
According to officials, the infiltration came to light on Thursday along the international border adjoining Barmer district. The intruder allegedly crossed into Indian territory from the Pakistani side on Monday night near the BSF Ashoka Border Outpost (BOP) in the Saroope Ka Tala border area.
He reportedly managed to move nearly 8 km inside Indian territory before BSF personnel apprehended him on Thursday.
After initial questioning, the BSF handed the accused over to Dhanau police station.
Chohtan DSP Jetharam confirmed that the BSF had handed over Pakistani national Mohammad Avesh, 26, son of Huzur Khan and a resident of Mithi city in Pakistan. He said the man is being interrogated and that no suspicious material has been recovered from him so far. Various security agencies will question him further.
According to DSP Jetharam, the BSF immediately launched an operation after receiving information about the Pakistani national entering Indian territory and succeeded in apprehending him quickly. Following the alert, police teams also reached the spot and carried out intensive searches in an area of nearly 10 km. However, no suspicious items were found during the operation.
Police and security agencies had begun investigations suspecting that the Pakistani national might be carrying prohibited material. He has been detained and is undergoing detailed interrogation.
Both the BSF and police are jointly investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, BSF sources said the apprehended intruder has been identified as Mohammad Avesh Khan, 26, son of Huzur Baksh and a resident of Samoon village in Pakistan’s Tharparkar district. Apart from a pouch of tobacco, no other item was recovered during the search.
During questioning, he reportedly said he had run away from home and entered India after a dispute with his family over marriage. He told BSF officials that he wanted to get married, but his family members were unwilling to arrange it.
The intruder has now been handed over to Dhanau Police Station in Barmer district for further legal action, where interrogation is continuing.
Interestingly, social media posts regarding his disappearance and running away from home have also gone viral on Pakistani social media platforms. One such post carrying his photograph appealed to people to share the message widely, stating that the young man had left home on Monday evening and had not returned.
The post further stated that his parents were deeply worried and distressed, and requested anyone with information about him to contact the family immediately.
