JAIPUR: The police have found that Jayant Sodhani (22) was obsessed with Harshita Gupta (21) and often discreetly swooped through her WhatsApp chat and threatened her not to talk to any other boy. This was revealed during the interrogation at Vidhyadhar Nagar police station where Jayant told police that he had never planned to kill the 'love of his life.
The police on Thursday had arrested Jayant for allegedly killing his neighbour and love interest Harshita Goyal by stabbing her multiple times inside his car.

Surendra Singh, SHO of Vidhyadhar Nagar police station, interrogated Jayant for close to two hours on Friday.
Jayant was shivering and his hands were trembling when the police started questioning him.
"Harshita would often give her phone to Jayant for repair, discreetly; he would read all the WhatsApp conversations of Harshita and reprimand her for talking to other boys. Harshita had admonished him for interfering in her personal life which had irked Jayant," police said.
Jayant had stored the photographs of Harshita in his mobile. He also confessed to having a collection of souvenirs he wanted to gift to Harshita.
"He had once gifted Harshita a chocolate. She had thrown the chocolate's wrapper inside a dustbin which Jayant picked up and took along with him. Similarly, there are greeting cards which he spoke about," police said.
Rajesh Kumar Meel, additional DCP (Jaipur North) said that both were very close once and used to meet regularly.

"Jayant had been insisting since his arrest that he remained committed to relationship whereas Harshita walked out of their alleged relationship. The accused said he never planned to kill Harshita, but he was seething with anger when he encountered Harshita talking to another man," he added.
However, Harshita's friends said that she never had any love affair with Jayant.
"She never had any relationship with Jayant, they were merely good friends. A few months ago Harshita had started going to gym and her social circle had widened too as she had started working at a leading fashion designing firm. Her focus was entirely on carving a name for herself in the industry. She has been meeting several new people and this had irked Jayant," a friend told TOI.
Kin to seek CBI probe
The family member of Harshita Gupta on Friday carried out a protest against the police outside Vidhyadhar Nagar police station. Ayush Gupta, brother of the victim told TOI that police has been referring the accused Jayant as the boyfriend of Harshita. "My sister was never into any relationship with Sodhani. In fact, our family had a fight with him over the issue. This shows that police is biased towards the accused and his family," he added.
Ayush added that they will demand a free and fair CBI probe into the matter as his sister was stabbed to death 17 times by Jayant. "My mother is in deep shock. I have lost my sister and the police are making mockery of the case. They should have also arrested the parents and the uncle of Sodhani. I request CM Vasundhra Raje to take notice of the case," he added.
