Officials said that the idea is to give residents an authentic feel of the heritage of the state and its association with railways.“Under the New Innovative Ideas scheme for generation of non-fare revenue rail coach restaurants have been started and we are getting a very good response from people. On some weekends, there is waiting outside these restaurants, which have been made right next to the railway station. At Ajmer, two air-conditioned condemned coaches and unused railway land near railway quarters have been provided for the work. The coaches were developed in rustic looks fabricated fast-food café,” said Captain Shashi Kiran, chief public relations officer of NWR. The senior official further said that more such restaurants will be opened across the state at all the destinations with heavy tourist footfall.

The official further said that those running the restaurant will have to ensure that waste generated from there is managed properly according to the solid waste management norms.

They will have to ensure that bio-degradable bags in garbage bins are places for easy disposal and proper handling and segregation of waste at source itself. These restaurants have take away facility too but sale and consumption of alcohol beverages is strictly prohibited.
