NSUI alleges RSS’ interference in university affairs in RU

Jaipur: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Thursday accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of interfering in university affairs and presented an RSS uniform to the vice-chancellor outside her office in protest.

NSUI students have accused the vice-chancellor of favouring the RSS and the ABVP in campus events.

A video of the incident, in which the NSUI functionaries are trying to block the vice-chancellor’s vehicle, went viral on social media Friday.

NSUI unit president for RU Manish Meghvanshi said, “We approached the vice-chancellor to discuss several student-related issues, but none were addressed. For the past few months, we have been noticing that RSS-related events are being organised in the university, but students’ welfare issues are being ignored.”

“The university administration is adopting a biased attitude. We will not let the university’s environment get disturbed like this and protest against it,” he added.

Rajasthan University (RU) will hold its 35th convocation ceremony Saturday, where Vice President CP Radhakrishnan will address the students. While the NSUI functionaries and other independent student leaders have not announced any protest during the convocation ceremony but are likely to stage a demonstration later during a youth festival event.
