JAIPUR: The showers on Monday left Jaipurites feeling fresh and rejuvenated. The light showers coupled with the cloudy weather continuing throughout the day brought back a sense of freedom from the intense heat which had earlier forced city denizens stay indoors. From young couples to groups of friends and from senior citizens to women – just about everybody – were seen enjoying the day.

Central Park seemed to be the most favoured destination for many. Though, visitors at other places, including Amber and Jal Mahal, were also more than the usual.
An elderly couple from Kolkata visiting the city had specially come down to Central Park for a walk around 2.20 pm. "One can hardly think of doing this on a routine day. The day reminds us of our schooldays back home, when special 'rainy day holidays' were declared and we would spend time playing football in the rains,'' the husband said.
A college student, Vishaka Singh, too, was at the park along with a group of friends. "It is nothing less than a gift from mother nature especially because it's also my birthday. Rather than hanging around at a coffee-shop or a mall, we decided to gather at the park so that we all could enjoy the weather,'' she said.
For Mohit, who works at a call-centre, it was a day to plan a surprise for his girlfriend. "I was quite busy for the last few days and could not meet her. However, today I have planned a special coffee treat and a long drive with her, just the way she like it,'' Mohit said.
And for Smita Aggarwal, a schoolteacher, it was just the right time to have a steaming cup of coffee and pakoras. "I love to hear the pitter-patter of raindrops and the silence after a good shower. I spent most of the morning in the balcony,'' Smita said. For the city kids, it was the zoo calling. More than 15,000 people visited the Jaipur Zoo on Sunday and Monday, all thanks to the good weather. Despite Monday being a week day, when usually the number of visitors were limited to around 3,000, about 6,000 people throng the zoo.
