NIA, MNIT in pact for better mental health of students

Jaipur: A one-day national seminar focusing on ayurveda and mental health was conducted to mark the fourth foundation day of the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) on Saturday. On the occasion, Dr Narayana Prasad Padhy, director, MNIT Jaipur, announced a collaboration between NIA and MNIT Jaipur, aimed at integrating modern technology with ayurvedic practices. He advised students to remain grounded in their present circumstances to maintain good mental health and achieve success.
During the seminar, Prof Sanjeev Sharma, vice-chancellor, NIA, highlighted the growing concerns about psychological disorders affecting mental health. He said that mental health ranks among the top ten health issues, impacting both professional and domestic environments. The contemporary competitive atmosphere particularly affects young people's mental well-being. He explained that ayurveda offers solutions for maintaining mental health and addressing related disorders, enabling individuals to contribute effectively to their families and society.
Psychiatrist Dr Shiv Gautam said mental health is crucial for overall wellness, noting that poor mental health can negatively impact physical health and environmental well-being.
On Friday, a dedicated mental health OPD was launched at the NIA's hospital in Jaipur.
