NGOs, religious bodies to register with Mewat administration asks
MEWAT: Now, all non-governmental organizations, social service and religious groups will have to register themselves with the district administration. The instructions were issued on Thursday by deputy commissioner Ashok Sharma, who cited, resident’s safety as the reason for the same.
All NGO’s, social and religious bodies in Mewat have a fortnight’s deadline to register themselves with the administration.

Notably, many organisations visited Mewat for social work and do charity work. However, a majority of them do not inform the local authorities while doing so. The most recent example for the same when an NGO renamed Marora Village as Trump village claiming that US president Donald Trump will visit the place. However, no such trip was made, nor was any permission was sought from administration. Consequently, the renaming boards were removed within a couple of days.
Moreover, it is also not clear if those visiting the villages have only good intentions in their mind. There is a concern that the illiterate and backward people of the district can be brainwashed into wrongdoings by anti-social elements. Such bad elements can use their pretext of charity as a bait to lure the residents.
“Considering this, we have instructed that all such NGOs and religious bodies should register themselves with the district authorities. They have to share details including name, address, registration details etc. Those who are doing a good work, will be provided all possible help from the government once they are part of our record,” said Ashok Sharma, deputy commissioner, Gurgaon.
