Newlywed woman strangled; husband, his girlfriend arrested

Jaisalmer: A man accused of murdering his newlywed wife surrendered, leading police to arrest his girlfriend, Vayda, Tuesday. The girlfriend, identified as Vayda, younger sister of accused's sister-in-law Mebha, allegedly helped in killing his wife, Kayma (24), a resident of Balaniyo Ki Dhani, Ghuriya on Feb 27."After the husband's surrender on Feb 28, we arrested Vayda following an investigation. She has been sent to judicial custody," said Khuhdi police station in-charge Meenakshi.According to superintendent of police Sudhir Chaudhary, Kayma married Sobhare Khan on Feb 20, 2024, but faced abuse and spent most of her time at her parental home. "As per the complaint, on Feb 23, Sobhare called her to his house at 10 PM. With Vayda and Mebha's help, he strangled her and dumped her body near his uncle Jadam's deserted house before fleeing," he said.The next morning, local women discovered Kayma's body and alerted her family. "We noticed injury marks and suspected foul play," said her brother, Farukh Khan, who later filed a murder case. Police formed a team led by Meenakshi and arrested Vayda after interrogation.Investigations revealed Sobhare and Vayda were in a relationship, which often caused conflicts with Kayma. "Sobhare's affair strained their marriage, leading to the murder," an officer said. Further investigation is underway.Following the complaint, the family staged a protest with Kayma's body at Jawahir Hospital's mortuary, concluding it upon police assurances.
