Watch: A day after wedding, bride casts vote for assembly bypoll in Rajasthan's Dausa

NEW DELHI: A day after her wedding, Khushi, a newly-married woman from Dausa district, made headlines on Wednesday as she cast her vote in the assembly bypoll before attending her farewell rituals.

Speaking to the media outside the polling booth, Khushi shared her thoughts on why voting matters.

"My wedding ceremony took place yesterday, and today, before the farewell rituals, I came to cast my vote. Voting is very important, and everyone should vote," Khushi said.



The by-election in Dausa is significant as cabinet minister Kirodi Lal Meena's brother, Jagmohan Meena, is contesting the seat for the BJP against Congress candidate Deen Dayal.

Dausa is one of seven constituencies where bypolls are being held across Rajasthan.

Other constituencies going to the polls include Jhunjhunu, Deoli-Uniara, Khinvsar, Chorasi, Salumber, and Ramgarh, with results to be announced on November 23.

A total of 69 candidates, including 10 women, are vying for the seven seats, competing for the votes of around 1.94 million registered voters.

The current composition of Rajasthan's 200-seat state assembly includes 114 MLAs from the BJP, 65 from Congress, three from the Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP), two from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), one from the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), and eight Independent MLAs.
