JAIPUR: Around 35,000 youths from across the state gathered at the SMS stadium to celebrate the National Youth Day to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanada on Saturday.
The event was inaugurated by chief ministerAshok Gehlot who spoke on the role of youths in the development of the state and nation.
State has left no stone unturned to capatlise on the mass gathering by displaying its policies and schemes especially in the field education and health through stalls and via exhibition.
"Here I got to know about several schemes and policies that can benefit my village people. I will share the details about the free medicine in hospitals and free check-up in the coming months," said a participant.
The event saw various activities ranging from group discussion (samvad) to exhibition highlighting each and every facet of Swami Vivekananda. The disciplined youths were seen exchanging social, economic and political issues revolving around their region.
"It was a learning experience. I had never met any one from Ganganagar and had no knowledge about them. I was surprised to find out that that they speak in a very different dialect than us," said Kisen Kumar, a tribal from Banswara.
The Maharana Pratap Pandal attracted hordes of youths for career counselling by experts on career. For some it was a golden opportunity to know about different kinds of jobs while others got their doubts cleared.
"I was aware about a few career opportunities until I came here. Now I can plan my future by pursuing some certificate courses suggested by the counsellors and support my family," said Kalu Ram, a villager from the Ajmer region.
The event saw 22,000 youths from Jaipur and 1000 each from Ajmer, Dausa, Sikar and Tonk and 300 youths from the other districts. A government official said, "Such events invoke a sense of unity among youths from diverse regions."
