Nat’l ayurveda institute expands facilities in city
Jaipur: The National Institute of Ayurveda is expanding its facilities to meet the growing demand for Ayurvedic treatment in city. Over the past 100 days, the hospital's outpatient department (OPD) registered over 92,000 patients, and its beds have remained fully occupied. The administration is now working to increase bed capacity to accommodate the rising number of patients.According to National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) records, during this 100-day period, the OPD registered 92,988 patients, including 35,629 new patients and 57,359 follow-up cases. The inpatient department (IPD) admitted 20,380 patients, including 1,756 new admissions and 18,624 ongoing treatments."We have a limited number of beds, and the demand for admissions is high. With all beds occupied, we constantly have a waiting list of patients seeking treatment," said NIA vice-chancellor Sanjeev Sharma. The hospital currently has 270 beds, and efforts are underway to expand capacity, despite space constraints. To address the rising demand, NIA Jaipur has also established a wing in Panchkula, Haryana. Appointments have been made for doctors, nursing staff, and other positions at NIA Panchkula, where the first batch of BAMS students has been admitted. This facility will serve as a premier teaching and research center, with a 250-bed hospital offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in Ayurveda. Currently, an OPD is operating to provide Ayurvedic treatment to the public.
