Mission Jagriti targets drug networks, wanted criminals
Jaipur: City police have launched a coordinated anti-narcotics drive, “Mission Jagriti”, aimed at tighten ing enforcement under the NDPS Act, dismantling supply networks and expanding rehabilitation efforts, officials said.
DCP (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma said the campaign prioritises maximum legal action against offenders, the arrest of wanted criminals and the disruption of drug trafficking chains through sustained surveillance and targeted operations in sensitive areas.
He said the initiative will also focus on the swift disposal of seized narcotics and confiscated vehicles, alongside financial investigations to trace and act against illicit assets linked to drug networks.
As part of the enforcement push, authorities will conduct regular inspections of medical stores to prevent the sale of banned substances and maintain close monitoring of areas around educational institutions, coaching centres, paying guest accommodations, commercial hubs, restaurants and cafes.
The programme also includes inspections of de-addiction centres to ensure proper functioning, along with expanded public outreach through rallies, street plays, seminars, marathons and audio-visual campaigns to raise awareness about substance abuse.
Authorities said the campaign will integrate psychological counselling, rehabilitation services and livelihood training for affected individuals, while working with local representatives to identify and develop drug-free wards and panchayats.
Multiple agencies are collaborating under the initiative, including the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, the Department of Education, the Department of Medical and Health, the Narcotics Control Bureau, the Drug Controller Department and the Press Club, Jaipur.
Authorities have urged the public to report drug trafficking and consumption through a dedicated helpline — 9530424984 — assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
