JAIPUR: The BJP on Tuesday claimed that minorities in the state were not happy with the
Ashok Gehlot government.
State president of the party's minority cell Amin Pathan, while addressing media persons at the party office here, claimed that the present government had failed to live up to the expectations of the minorities. "Almost four years in power and all that the government has done was to make appointments for three of the six boards for the minorities.
The government could not find six learned and educated people to head the boards from our community?'' asked Pathan. He alleged that more and more people are losing faith in the state government.
Talking about Gopalgarh violence, he said that the cell had proposed to hold a 'sadhbhavana' rally to mark a year of the incident on September 14. "The district administration has refused to give permission for any programme but we will approach them again. We will also discuss the issue with our state president and the leader of opposition,'' he said.
The state minority cell is presently conducting a membership drive, for which it is getting an overwhelming response. "We are close to making 60,000 new members and aim at making 1 lakh new members,'' said Pathan.
